She became a story editor for the fourth season in 2007. She co-wrote the episodes "The Object of My Affection" and "Rescue Me". She was promoted to executive story editor for the fifth and final season in 2008. She wrote the episodes "Happy Trails" and "Juiced". She became a co-producer and writer for new legal drama ''The Good Wife'' in 2009. She wrote the episodes "Unprepared" and "Painkiller". Brinkerhoff and the writing team were nominated for the Writers Guild of America Award for best new television series in 2010 for their work on the first season of ''The Good Wife''.〔
